DETAILS
ALG Worldwide was contacted by new client for weekend assistance. Their customer was facing a production halt at two of their facilities if they did not receive the repair parts from overseas. Their International Freight Forwarder was able to get the part to Chicago’s O’Hare Airport but had no way to deliver the part by the time the line would go down. This request was made more difficult as each shipment arrived at a different Airline at a different location at the Airport. ALG Worldwide provided a driver that was not only familiar with the Cargo area of Chicago’s O’Hare Airport but also the special documentation required for recovery of freight. The shipments did not clear Customs and were not available for pick-up until late in the day on Saturday. ALG Worldwide’s driver verified that he had all the needed documents to be allowed to pick-up the shipments from each airline. Due the congestion and delays with ocean shipments, the volume of Air shipments have increased dramatically, putting a strain on the airlines warehouse personnel which increased delays and detention at the airlines. Knowing this the ALG Worldwide Control Tower monitored this shipment every step of the way to ensure that the Driver followed protocol and notified the Control Tower immediately if any delay became extensive. ALG Worldwide’s Control Tower verified with the Driver that each shipment was complete, and that each shipment was recovered and loaded into the truck for delivery. Driver proceeded to drive the 254 miles and was waiting on site for the first shift to start at the Farm Equipment Manufacturers location. The parts were quickly offloaded and taken directly to the production line. Once that delivery was complete, he proceeded 37 miles to the second and final destination. ALG Worldwide was instrumental in avoiding two production line shutdowns.
